"So okay, I don’t want to be a traitor to my generation and all but I don’t get how guys dress today. I mean, come on, it looks like they just fell out of bed and put on some baggy pants and take their greasy hair - ew - and cover it up with a backwards cap and like, we’re expected to swoon? I don’t *think* so."
Guys didnt dress like this, though, with the stupid colors and goofy hats. This is hollywood bullshit. They did dress baggy n stuff, but it didnt look this stupid. They dressed like this
just setting the record straight, i mean, real 90s teen-fashion from 94 - 96 was pretty normal. i run a 90s blog, ive been doing this for 3 years man. i mean thats my job to give u guys the real deal. For me the peak of 90s fashion was like during 97-99, with the Delia’s / Old Navy / The Gap / Buffy The Vampire Slayer aesthetic, also like the futuristic cyber rave wear from the late 90s was pretty tight. But like the movie Clueless wasn’t really a representation of how people really dressed in the 90s, it was all highly stylized from some old lady working in the Paramount Pictures wardrobe department. I hope you enjoyed this installment of, “The Straight Dope from Fuckyeah1990s”. Have a great day.
Nope, they dressed both ways, Sorry but from someone who was alive and not shitting on myself at the time I’ve seen it all. Thanks for your input though.
No, they didn’t. I defy anyone on tumblr to find a real life example. But you know, I could get any skateboard magazine from the 90s and find countless examples of skaters looking pretty normal and not goofy as hell the way they looked in Clueless. Sorry.hahahah cute. early 90’s hiphop is really all i have to say. clearly, no one wore these EXACT outfits. but this was a legit phase. sit yo ass down.
Find one picture of a skateboarder in the 90s looking that stupid. Just one. But you know, I could find literally thousands of pictures of skateboarders in the 90s wearing normal as hell clothes. and I even pointed out that the fashion period i was talking about was from 94 - 96. Clueless was released in 95, long after the early 90s late 80s colorful look had died out (which was never really that popular to begin with). And the screencap that I posted, was also from a movie released in 95, its from “Kids”, only the characters in that dressed realistically and is more representative of 90s fashion.
"10 Things I Hate About You" is the best teen movie of the 90s anyway. And everyone in that looked normal.
